A Ginger Lemon Hot Toddy

Lashings of syrupy spice, dashes of sharp bitters and swirls of silky sandalwood. This delicious # AGingerLemon anagram is our go-to serve for wintry days.

Ingredients.

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 Years Old
Ginger syrup
Honey
Lemon juice
Aromatic bitters
Apple juice
Apple slices and 1 cinnamon stick, to garnish

Quantities.

30ml (1oz) Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 Years Old
10ml (1/3oz) ginger syrup
10ml (1/3oz) honey
10ml (1/3oz) lemon juice
3 dashes aromatic bitters
125ml (4oz) apple juice

Method.

Bring real warmth to this cocktail by heating the apple juice gently. As it warms through (don’t let it boil), bring everything else together in a glass mug and stir to dissolve the honey, then top the glass up when the apple juice is done. To make it look as good as it tastes, add fanned apple slices and a cinnamon stick at the finish.

Dr Bill, our Director of Whisky Creation, was born with a taste for adventure. And with this single malt he sought to create a whisky as unpredictable as his travels. Quinta Ruban is a whisky journey into the wild – a dark and delectable forest where the wind whistles with gusts of peppermint and dark swirls of chocolate can happen at any moment. 

In our giraffe-high stills, it begins soft and fruity, then gets darker and deeper as we let it age for 14 years in bourbon casks and port casks from Portugal. The finished whisky is a thicket of voluptuous flavour combinations. Walnut and black pepper. Mandarin orange and melted marshmallow. Dark chocolate bar and peppermint. And, like stepping into a chocolate-minty-orange unknown, the journey is as delicious as the destination.
