Taking care of our people during COVID-19

Our employee’s, contractors and suppliers safety is always our first priority.

We paused operations at our Distilleries and bottling facility in March to protect our teams and all who work for us.

Before re-opening our distilleries and bottling plant during April and May, we undertook a comprehensive safety audit in line with Food Standards Agency guidelines, implementation of new health and safety measures and thorough consultation with our teams.

In full consultation with employees we made profound changes to the way we operate. New equipment, processes and trainings were put in place to ensure the safety of our teams as we wanted to ensure that our Employees felt confident to return to the workplace; our Suppliers know they can trust that we have appropriate processes in place when we are dealing with them; and our Customers can continue to buy our product with the confidence and knowledge that we are taking our responsibilities seriously.

Our Employees

Anybody who is able to work from home continues to do so. In considering who should return to work at our Distilleries and bottling facilities we only considered those whose roles could not be carried out from home.

For those employees who have returned to the workplace, prior to doing so, we shared and consulted on our proposed new ways of working.

We have sourced all necessary safety equipment including hand sanitisers, face masks, screens and gloves and are maintaining a high standard of workspace hygiene.

We have developed new ways of working with reduced team sizes, staggered arrival and departure times, stringent social distancing measures, one way systems in high traffic areas, dedicated car parks for teams, multiple site entrance and exits, new changing rooms and physical barriers where they are required.

All employees were provided with mandatory remote training on the new ways of working before returning to work.

We are closely monitoring and reviewing the implementation of these new ways of working and will continue to adapt to resolve any issues or reflect current best practice.

Our Suppliers

It is important to us that those businesses that provide us with our supplies also feel safe and protected when they are visiting our sites.

We have implemented revised drop-off points, reduced the number of pick-up points and introduced steps to minimise any unnecessary contact.

Our Customers

Reopening our distilleries and bottling facility has meant that we have been able to continue to meet global demand for our whiskies.

In-line with Government guidance we closed our visitor centres at Glenmorangie and Ardbeg Distillery and Glenmorangie House, our brand home in the highlands. They will open in line with government guidance and when we believe it is safe to operate these sites, both for visitors and staff.

Our Community

The Company is supporting the communities surrounding its distilleries on Islay and Tain through donations to local social enterprise partners distributing hot meals, transport and support to the vulnerable and elderly.
